PART 2: STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO MEASURE CHEMISE SIZE

When you are shopping for a chemise or nightgown, picking the right size that fits you is important. The easiest way to know what size fits you is by selecting your normal dress size. A looser size that is enough for you to move but still compliments your body shape is a good choice as well. Whatever size you choose, make sure that it keeps you functional, comfortable, and sexy about your body.

SIZE MATTERS! LET'S GET STARTED

STEP 1: Measure bust size

Measures in a circle around the breasts and back.

STEP 2: Measure waist size

Find the natural waist. This is the smallest part of the waist, usually about 1 inch above belly button, keep tape slightly loose to allow for breathing room.

STEP 3: Measure hips size

Find the widest part of hips, usually about 7 inches below the natural waist, the tape should brush across both hipbones.

STEP 4: Determine your size

With these three numbers in hand, refer to the chemise size chart above to find your corresponding chemise size.

PART 3: FAQs ABOUT CHEMISE

Summer is here, so it’s time to do away with warm PJs and knitted loungewear and opt in for something cooler - the chemise! But, what is a chemise? And how to choose one? We’re answering all your chemise FAQs right here!

1. What Is Chemise?

A chemise is a classic undergarment which originated as a piece of clothing worn close to the body to protect your clothes from the natural oils your skin produces. In the modern day, a chemise is usually a loose dress worn as nightwear, and now comes in many revealing silhouettes and fabrics. It isn’t fitted at the waist, and usually doesn’t feature any fastenings for ease of getting on (and off!). Chemises are one of those tools that can make a woman feel sexy and comfortable at the same time.

Now known as slips, chemises are now made into loose dresses and usually come in various revealing fabrics and silhouettes. Today, they are made up of different styles, designs, and fabrics for every woman.

2. How to Choose the Right Chemises

When choosing the right chemise, you have to take into account four important points.

  • Pick the right size for you
  • Choose the right material
  • Choose a balance of comfort and style
  • Consider when and where to use it

With these points considered, you will be able to select the perfect chemise for you.

3. What Are the Differences Between Chemise and Nightgown?

In today’s English-speaking world, it means a short sleeveless nightgown.  It doesn’t have to refer to a specific style, a specific fabric, or even a specific length – it just doesn’t have sleeves and it’s not longer than mid-calf.  It comes from the French term “chemise de nuit,” which means “night shirt”.  In modern French, “chemise” is simply a man’s shirt –  usually a button down.

4. Do You Wear A Bra Under A Chemise?

Are you wondering what to wear under a chemise? It's entirely up to you! A chemise is typically worn at home, either as sleepwear or as a comfortable cover-up while making breakfast. You can wear it on its own without any underwear, but many people are now incorporating chemises into their outerwear wardrobe. They look great layered over t-shirts, under jackets, and paired with boots or heels. For shorter chemises, they can even be worn with jeans for a stylish and comfortable outfit.

Since chemises are typically sleeveless, it's important to consider your bra choice. A mismatched bra strap can be unsightly, so you may want to opt for a strapless bra or choose a bra that complements the fabric and color of your chemise.

Chemises come in a variety of materials, including silk, cotton, and satin. When choosing the right one for you, it's important to consider three things: size, material, and purpose. Make sure to choose a chemise that fits your body comfortably and is made of a material that meets your needs. And don't forget to choose a style that balances both comfort and fashion, whether you're wearing it for personal or professional use. With so many options available, there's a perfect chemise out there for everyone!
